// December 3rd, 2009 // 4 Comments » // Uncategorized

Great news,
Hannah & Sam have been nominated in the Horizon category for the 2010 BBC Folk Awards.
Hannah & Sam’s 2009 album Catches & Glees was produced, mixed and engineered by me (Andy Bell) and I also mixed fellow nominees, Kat & Jamies, record earlier on in the year!
A beer or two will be had tonight at the Barnsley Kerfuffle Christmas gig I think!

Fresh back from doing the sound for Uiscedwr Bigband at Cromer Folk on the Pier, I am already looking forward to Uiscedwr’ special feature on the Mike Harding Show on BBC Radio 2 on May 22nd. There will be an Interview with Anna and Cormac as well as 2 or 3 tracks played off the album I recently recorded for them, Fish Cat Door.

This week I’ll be going in to Wavelength Studios with Dan Cassidy and James Hickman to rattle off a demo for the album, which is to be recorded late on in the year. Dan, sister of Eva Cassidy, is a virtuoso fiddle player and I’m really looking forward to it.. Talking of virtuoso fiddlers, my week is filled with them as I will also be doing a quick demo for Sam Sweeney this week who is linking up with guitar wizard and beautiful songwriter Sam Carter. They me whilst Sam C supported Bellowhead on tour and they promise much for the future!

THE DEMON BARBER ROADSHOW

// May 10th, 2009 // 3 Comments » // Uncategorized

This year I have taken over the sound and technical aspect of the BBC Folk Awards - Best Live Act 2009 - The Demon Barbers. So if you see me out and about with them at the festivals please say hello, I’m also live sounding it with Kerfuffle. Damien and myself are busy researching ways in which to make the Band and Dancers more mobile whilst getting the sound right, so hopefully a nice new radio mic system will be heading out way soon!
